The death toll in Turkey and Syria from this week’s earthquake has surpassed 25,000, according to both countries. Turkey’s President Tayyip Recep Erdoan said the death toll in his country from the earthquake had risen to 21,848.

The news agency France-Presse has reported that 3,553 people have died in Syria.

This would bring the total death toll for Turkey and Syria to 25,401. A border crossing between Armenia and Turkey reopened Saturday for the first time in 35 years to let humanitarian aid through, an official said.

Five trucks with relief supplies, including food, water and medicines, have arrived in Turkey from the Alican border crossing, Serdar Kilic, Turkey’s special envoy for dialogue with Armenia, tweeted, Agence France-Presse reports.

A man trapped in the rubble of an earthquake more than 100 hours, recited the Holy Quran while rescuers worked to free him. 47 Years old Osman Firat is recites last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah, the longest chapter of the holy book.

Around 3 o’clock A man and woman raced in the man carrying a small bundle in his arms yelling that they needed a pediatrician. Their faces revealed panic that had evolved into hopelessness. They had rushed to hospitals with their bundle, baby Aya who had just been born amid the debris of a collapsed structure to a dead mother.

 

After 129 hours trapped, the five-member family was rescued.
A family of five that spent five days trapped inside their collapsing home has been rescued by Turkish rescuers.

In the town of Nurdag, in the province of Gaziantep, rescuers first freed mother and daughter Hawa and Fatmagul Aslan from a pile of debris, according to Haber Turk.
